Traffic commissioners Sarah Bell, Nick Denton and Kevin Rooney will be redeployed from 31 October 2016.
The moves follow the appointment of Nick Jones as the first, full time Traffic Commissioner for Wales by the Welsh Government.
Mr Jones will vacate his role as Traffic Commissioner for the West Midlands when he takes up the appointment on 01 October 2016.
As a result, Mr Denton will be redeployed as the Traffic Commissioner for the West Midlands, based in Birmingham. Miss Bell will become the Traffic Commissioner for London and the South East of England, based in Eastbourne and Mr Rooney will be redeployed as Traffic Commissioner for the West of England, based in Bristol. Mr Rooney will retain his role as Traffic Commissioner for the North East of England in the interim.
The changes will officially take effect from 31 October but transitional arrangements will be made during the month of October to prepare for the redeployments and ensure that licensing and regulatory activities are not affected.

SENIOR TC RESIGNS
In a shock announcement Beverley Bell - Britain’s most senior transport regulator - has resigned.
Mrs Bell will leave her post of Traffic Commissioner (TC) for the North West of England in Spring 2017. The date coincides with the end of her term as Senior Traffic Commissioner (STC), for which she is not seeking re-appointment.
DIABETES
Stricter rules for self-monitoring diabetes by holders of PCV and LGV driving licences have come into force – but the change has not been publicised by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
Up to now, the rules have stated that a professional driver on the sulphonylurea or the glinide group of tablets must check their blood glucose levels with a finger prick test at least twice a day and at times relevant to driving.
But when the diabetes expert doctors met at DVLA in March they changed the rules in the interests of road safety.
They now require people on these tablets to do a finger prick test to check their sugar level “no more than two hours before the start of the first journey and every two hours while driving.”
Surprisingly, the DVLA has not updated the D4 medical form to keep it up to date with the new rules.

OPERATOR CPC
Operator CPC is made up of two examinations - multi choice and case study. You have to pass both exams to achieve the qualification.
Why do Friendberry not offer the Operator CPC training as an online interactive course.
Unfortunately, OCR will not let candidates use electronic copies of the study material or DVSA guides in the exam - and we have asked on numerous occasions.
So, until such time as OCR accept that electronic is the way forward, you will need printed study material for the open book case study exam.
If you need printed study material for the case study part of the CPC, then there is no point in having an electronic copy of the same material for the multi choice part.
We have always been at the forefront of inspiration: we were the first company to offer audio CPC training; we were the first company to produce CPC training videos; and we are one of the few companies offering the online multi choice test.

DVSA’s Earned Recognition
The DVSA’s Earned Recognition scheme has been tested in the LGV sector for a number of months, and now the agency has confirmed that it is coming to PCVs. It rewards the most compliant operators and targets the rogues.More information can be found - https://movingon.blog.gov.uk/were-transforming-our-approach-to-enforcement/
